FOOTNOTES
Fr. Elias Mary Mills, FI, Spiritual Director to the Rosary Hour Podcast reminded our team in March of 2024 that the best gift we could receive as a prayer group is a blessing! And thus, we begin this post with the prayerful blessing and the words of His Eminence, Cardinal Marto, from Fátima, Portugal, who we cite above because of his indirect influence on all the prayer content that we have explored to this day, even content that is not shared and part of our private prayers due to his talk in Fátima in May 2022. The article which transformed our approach to prayer was published on the Sanctuary website and noted his desire to create a “new pedagogy for teaching children to pray the Rosary”.
We read that challenge, and so much of our approach to this podcast had that basic thought in mind. Fr. Elias reinforced to us that we have always known this pedagogy, but we have somehow forgotten it and could rediscover it in time and with perseverance.
In this podcast Consecration, we hope to spend the next 42 days unpacking some of the beautiful aspects of the Rosary prayers as uttered and prayed on the Camino to Santiago in Portugal, in the Ambience of “The Fé Poveiran” and with our guests to Season 3 and return guests to our podcast.
FÁTIMA
If you were unable to join Cardinal Marto leading the children in Prayer this past October 18, 2024 in Fátima, please see below.
His leadership in supporting the 1.3 million Rosaries prayed by children worldwide that day, and his influence in promoting the Spirituality of St. Jacinta and St. Francisco, especially since his new appointment by Pope Francis, has inspired us to share this set of Rosary reflections which he utters in Portuguese as captured at the Chapel of Apparitions. We will add the transcript in time.
Cardinal Marto notes in the above Rosary sermon that peace comes through our prayer. He asks for the intercession of Saints Jacinta and Francisco and gives a blessing at the end of the Terço led by children.
(The final hymn is the popular song, “A Treze de Maio” which anyone in the world can learn now and sing-along to when visiting Portugal on pilgrimage to Fátima.)
Also, Fr. Nahm has reminded us that Christian piety serves as the precise focus of this conversation on prayer, led by children, and supported by the Mystical Body of the Church.
Thus, the pedagogical approach to this podcast content in all of the segments shared to thank Cardinal Marto not simply for his constant modelling of the power of a child’s prayer offered to God in chorus format, but also for his inspiration in our efforts to share the spirituality of the Rosary from Northern Portugal, during this year of prayer.
